4/13/10 - 36 days and counting

So I have 36 days left and it can't go fast enough!!!! It's back to the waiting - unfortunately. hahaha what a fool I am! Thinking the waiting would go quickly. :P Silly, silly me.
Sometimes I find it easier to just not think about anything except the day before me. It makes it easier, the waiting, I mean. If I were to think about EVERYTHING I have coming up, I would go insane! Tests, projects, areas, juries, FINALS, not to mention choir concerts, packing up all my stuff to move out (thank god thats further along) and packing/shopping for Florida!
Thinking about Florida......I signed up for the roommate assignment thing yesterday. I can't wait to found out who my roommate will be - if anyone at all. It's taking forever but I'm also really nervous about it. What if I dont get along with my roommate? I really hope it turns out well!!
Okay, so my roommate is big on lists and she's been trying to get me to make some when I get stressed (she swears by them lol) so I'm gonna make one now:

WHAT I WANT TO DO IN DISNEY:

1. See Cinderella's Castle
This is my number one because....well, its Cinderellas Castle!!! It's one of the major landmarks of disney!

2. Go on a Safari in the AK.
Animals? Safari? in America? HECK YEAH! Saves me the money of having to go to Africa ;)

3. Ride all the rides
With the exception of the "Its a small world" ride, I want to experience EVERYTHING

4. Make lifelong friends
Okay, so this one should be a given but I had to put it down. :)

5. Interact with all the characters in disneyworld
Mad Hatter being my number one choice, but I want to talk to everyone :)

Can anyone think of any other ideas to add to my list? Anything I absolutely need to experience while being down there?

4/09/10 - ACCEPTED!

Hey everyone!!!!!!! So I woke up this morning completely groggy and wanting to go back to bed. (My roommate is dying from her allergies so that kept us both up! lol I feel so bad for her :( GET BETTER BRIDGETT!!!! :) )
So as you know, its been a week and a day since my interview. So i checked my email, not really thinking of it and I had an email from disney! I freaked out and started to hyperventilate. I was thinking, " Oh lord, oh lordy lord. ohhhhhh lord." or something to that effect. I click on it and it says:

Dear Christa,

Congratulations! You have been selected to participate as a Housekeeping Cast Member on the Disney College Program in the Fall Advantage 2010 Season.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! So by now I'm tearing up and getting crazy excited. I jump up and bang on the bathroom door screaming at my roommate that I got accepted into the program. She was happy for me :)

So now I'm doing my whole accepting process and have scheduled an arrival date (5/19/10) :) now i have to do some shopping for Florida clothing!!!!!! :)

4/2/10 - Post-interview

well guys, it's done. The interview is complete. Now all thats left to do is wait. and wait. and wait. and wait some more. Well I did say I wanted to learn patience, right? ;)

THE INTERVIEW:

Well, we started off with the basics: name, will I be over 18 by the time summer rolls around? Which program would I prefer? Do I comply with the Disney Look, etc. Just basic questions that were mostly on the application. Then came the fun stuff - the questions of death *dun dun DUN!!!*
1. Which top 2 or 3 roles would you be interested in?
- Merchandise, Quick-Service food and beverage, and attractions.

2. Now, a lot of these roles require you to memorize lengthy speeches in front of large crowds. Do you feel comfortable doing this?
- Yes I feel very comfortable doing this because I have been in several musicals and plays with speaking roles so this would be no problem for me.

3. Can you tell me about your past work experience?
- Well I haven't had an actual job, but I have done things such as babysitting and lifeguarding at the local holiday inn.
-Can you explain that please?
- Yes, well the Holiday Inn kept a list of lifeguards available in the area and when someone wanted to have a pool party they would contact lifeguards on the list. I was hired independently and didn't have a permanent boss.

4. Some of these rolls require handling large amounts of money. Have you had experience with this?
- No, but I'm willing to learn.

5. Have you ever been to Disney?
-No (laughs)

6. What would you want to see in the park?
- Probably Cinderella's Castle but I'm not sure! I want to experience everything!

7. Why do you want this internship?
- Working for Disney has always been my dream for as long as I can remember. This would be a good way for me to get started. Also, I'm going into Music Education and I feel that this would help me learn patience and poise for that role as a teacher.

8. Have you ever lived with roommates before?
-Yes, I'm actually living with 3 right now.

9. What do you think could be a challenge living with other people?
-Possibly getting a roommate that you dont get along with. However, I like to think of myself as a people person and I find that I'm quite good at getting along with people and making friends.

10. Do you see yourself more as an independent person or a team player?
- I see myself more as a team player but I can be either very comfortably.

thats all i can really think of. All together it took about 15 mins.
I guess we will find out soon enough, huh?

One of the things I didn't really like is that my interviewee didn't say ANYTHING after I answered a question. I know she was typing my answers up but it was VERY unnerving. O.o
I hope i did alright!!!!!

4/1/10 - Pre-interview

oh Lordy Lord. I am SO nervous!!!!!!!!
I hate not being able to prepare for something like this because I have NO idea what kind of questions are going to be asked. But I guess not knowing is what makes the experience so exciting. If you knew what was going to be asked, it would be easy and you cant really show your true self. Sigh. I'm not good at talking about myself. I absolutely hate that 'butterflies in your stomach' kind of feeling. It makes me sick :-/ Was anyone else THIS nervous about this interview? somehow I don't really think anyone is reading this but its still nice to get my thoughts out.
I will post more after my interview. That moment can't come soon enough!
I WANT THIS SO BADLY!!!

3/25/10 - The application

Well, I did it. I completed the first step of my Disney Dream. I applied.
exciting, no?

It was pretty easy. Last night I watched the e-presentation and got extremely excited about the CP. So I filled out the application, did the online interview and at the end, was given a phone number to schedule my phone interview! then today, I went to my University's Disney Presentation and got even more excited!!! To make things even better, I got stickers!! :D so awesome. I stuck them onto my laptop. now its Disneyfied. :)

I can't believe this is happening. I've been going crazy looking up possible interview questions, researching about the parks, etc. The sad part is, the interview isn't until April first. I'm going insane waiting!!!!!!
speaking of April first......anyone think the interviewer will pull any tricks on me? :P

Somethings I'm worried about:

1. I've never had an actual job before. I really hope this doesn't count against me. I mean, I've done the common odd jobs such as babysitting, housework, yardwork, house/pet sitting, things like that. I was also a lifeguard at my local holiday inn but I was independent and wasnt actually working for them. It was just for pool parties. I don't know what to do about this............

2. I've never been to Disneyworld before. Will this hurt my chances??? O.o I hope not!!!!

ok well enough worrying. THINK POSITIVE!!! :D

wish me luck!!
